The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park ( Welsh : Parc Cenedlaethol Arfordir Penfro ) is a national park along the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales . It is the only national park in Great Britain that is mainly on the coast. It is known for having large breeding colonies of many species of sea birds .
Construction of the park
The park with a total area of 620 km² has existed since 1952 . It is divided into four areas:
- the southern part, to which the island of Caldey belongs
- the area around the Daugleddau , east of Neyland
- Haverfordwest , as well as the western part of the county with St. Brides Bay and islands such as Grassholm , Skokholm and Skomer
- the Preseli Hills in northern Pembrokeshire. The areas are linked by the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
A well-known natural phenomenon is the tidal wave , the so-called bitches , that occurs in the strait between the coast and the offshore island of Ramsey . It occurs every 12.5 hours, depending on the tide, and can be surfed in a kayak or surfboard.
Pembrokeshire Coast Path
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a hiking trail. The trail runs from St. Dogmaels in the west to Saundersfoot in the east of Pembrokeshire . The hiking trail almost always leads directly along the coast on mostly well-maintained paths. Twelve days are scheduled for the inspection, and individual partial stages can also be walked. Campsites, bed and breakfasts and youth hostels can be found along the Coast Path .

There are 13 information centers in and around the park.
