The Wales Coast Path ( Welsh Llwybr Arfordir Cymru and occasionally All Wales Coast Path ) is an approximately 1,400 km (870 mi) long distance hiking trail that follows from the River Dee at Queensferry in north Wales to Chepstow on the south coast of Wales.
The long-distance hiking trail is the first and longest continuous hiking trail along the entire coast of a country and was created between 2007 and 2011 through the connection of various previously existing shorter hiking trails and officially opened on May 5, 2012.
The long distance trail touches a number of areas classified as Areas of National Importance by the Welsh Government, including the Snowdonia and Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks and the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Anglesey , Pen Llŷn and Gower . One of the longest independent sections is the 200 km long Anglesey Coastal Path .
There is a link to the Offa's Dyke Path which allows a complete circumnavigation of Wales on a 1660 km (1030 mile) hike.
