From August 1, 1876 to May 28, 1995, Weiach-Kaiserstuhl was a passenger train station on the Winterthur – Koblenz railway line . It is located in the municipality of Weiach in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. With the timetable change in 1995 it was given up as a train stop and the Kaiserstuhl AG stop a few hundred meters to the west was opened. Exact location: 674270 268560 (CH1903).

history

A station “Kaiserstuhl-Weiach” was already marked on the map for the first license application, which was submitted by the city of Winterthur at the end of the 1860s. Because the construction and maintenance of train stations was already an expensive undertaking back then, not every municipality got its own train station. The line was finally built by the Nordostbahn . In the summer of 1875, she announced a competition to build the high-rise structures for the new route.

The station building

The smaller stations (to which Weiach-Kaiserstuhl also belonged) were given the uniform “Classe V station building”, a “Class V passenger exit” and a fountain. Each station building was equipped with a clock and a station bell. These “station buildings Classe V” are still in place in Glattfelden and from Zweidlen , via Rümikon-Mellikon to Rekingen . There are compact wooden buildings with an office, goods shed and a service apartment under one roof. The Eglisau and Zurzach train stations were designed as "Class III" stone buildings with an iron canopy and a separate wooden goods shed.

Transport links

Today no trains stop in Weiach-Kaiserstuhl. Only goods handling for the needs of local agriculture and trade took place sporadically. On December 11, 2005, SBB Cargo closed the Weiach-Kaiserstuhl self- loading station . Thus, the surname of the immediately preceding the former station building station Old railway station of the post bus -line 515 of the Zurich Transport Association fully justified.
