Glattfelden is a municipality in the Bülach district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland on the border with Germany .

Glattfelden is located in the Zurich Unterland on the last section of the Glatt river , which flows into the Rhine near Rheinsfelden . In addition to the village of Glattfelden, the place includes the settlements of Schachen, Aarüti, Rheinsfelden and Zweidlen . Neighboring communities are: Weiach , Hohentengen , Eglisau , Bülach , Hochfelden and Stadel . The Neuhus exclave , a single farm in the Rheinaue, also belongs to the municipality , which means that Glattfelden has a common border with Hüntwangen .

Glattfelden is on the main road no. 7 Basel – Winterthur, which bypasses the village as the cantonal A50 motorway.
The Glattfelden train station is located outside Glattfelden in the Bülach municipality on the Bülach – Schaffhausen railway line and is served by the S9 line of the Zurich S-Bahn . The bus line 540 of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund connects the train station with the village and on to Zweidlen train station.
Zweidlen has its own train station, which is located near Rheinsfelden on the Winterthur-Koblenz line (S36). This was closed in the course of austerity measures in passenger traffic in 1995 and reopened five years later after protests.

Personalities associated with the community
- The place is famous for the close relationship that the Swiss poet and Zurich writer Gottfried Keller had with him. In his youth he spent his summer holidays in Glattfelden.
- The pastor and lexicographer Josua Maaler lived and died in Glattfelden. He is the author of the first dictionary to focus on the German language.
