history
In 1157, Lufingen was first mentioned in a document as Luvingen , when Canon Domenicus donated land in Lufingen to the monastery of St. Blasien in the Black Forest in Strasbourg . Luvingin 1157 = with the people in the hole (mhd. Lûf <hole, abyss>). From 1496 to 1498 Heinrich Brennwald was rector of the parish church in Lufingen. The jurisdiction of Lufingen was sold in December 1645 by the St. Blasien monastery to its Zurich bailiff in Stampfenbach , Gerold Edlibach. The council of Zurich approved this purchase and granted Edlibach feudal rights, since the city was the supreme lieutenant of its subject area. In 1647 he sold the jurisdiction to his brother-in-law, Johann Heinrich Waser , Vogt von Kyburg and then mayor of Zurich.
