Dietlikon ( Swiss German : Dietlike) is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland . It should not be confused with the almost homophonic Zurich community of Dietikon in the district of the same name west of the city of Zurich .

Dietlikon is split into three parts by the street Schwamendingen - Effretikon ( Winterthurerstrasse / Zürcherstrasse ) and the NOB mainline Oerlikon - Winterthur, which opened in 1855 , in the northern part is the idyllic village center with many green areas, the middle part has a similar characteristic, with a remainder Industry in the west, in the southern part there is the industrial quarter, which is cut through by the motorway one more time.

The neighboring communities are Wallisellen , Kloten and Bassersdorf in the Bülach district, and Wangen-Brüttisellen and Dübendorf in the Uster district, clockwise from the west .

Dietlikon used to be an Alemannic settlement. The founder of the family, Dietilo (other spellings: Dietelo, Dieto), translated as "son of the people", is considered to be the founder. In 1124 the name appears for the first time as "Dietlinchoven".

Dietlikon has 7,553 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2016), 3 schools, 4 kindergartens.


Many wholesalers and specialist stores have settled in the industrial quarter: IKEA , Livique / Lumimart , Coop Megastore , Athleticum , Jumbo Maximo , Bruno Piatti Küchen, Conrad , MagicX, Dosenbach-Ochsner , Vögele , Media Markt , the largest Qualipet , the largest Toys'R 'Us and the largest multiplex cinema Pathé in the canton of Zurich. Dietlikon is the headquarters of Häuselmann Holding and the headquarters of Implenia AG .


Dietlikon is well served by public transport .

The S3, S8 and S19 of the Zurich S-Bahn run from Zurich main station to Dietlikon station , right in the village center.

There are direct connections to Winterthur via Effretikon, to Wetzikon via Pfäffikon and to Zurich HB via Oerlikon or Stadelhofen. and on to Aarau. There are no direct connections to the airport or to Bülach or Rapperswil.

Together with the construction of the Brüttener Tunnel , there are plans to completely rebuild the Dietlikon station. Instead of three tracks, the new station will have 4 tracks with 2 central platforms.


During the day, two bus lines serve to develop the industrial area and are subsidized by individual specialist stores through building and permit requirements. In the evenings and on Sundays, a bus provides a connection to Dübendorf train station at the expense of the Pathé cinema. Another bus line leads to Zurich- Kloten Airport.


The village can be reached by car from Zurich via Autobahn 1 / Autobahn 4 and Hauptstrasse 1 . The airport Zurich-Kloten is about 6 kilometers away and reachable by car also in about 7 to 8 minutes.


The mayor is Edith Zuber (SVP) (as of December 2017). In addition to two other non-party councils, the FDP , the SP and the SVP are each represented with one seat. The president of the RPK is Beat Lüönd.


The women of the Floorball Club Dietlikon won both the championship and the cup in 2006. 7 players from UHC Dietlikon became world champions in women's floorball in 2005 . The European Cup and the Swiss championship title were won in the 2006/2008 season. In the 2007/2008 season, the UHC Dietlikon was both European Cup winner, Swiss champion and cup winner.

The Dietlikon gymnastics club is a successful club both cantonally and nationally.


The listed Reformed Parish House from 1777 at Dorfstrasse 13 was extensively restored in 1978, as was the former schoolhouse from 1716.
