Maus Frères Holding
The Maus Frères is a Swiss , privately held, family owned retail company based in Geneva . The company owns, directly or through subsidiaries, including the department store chain Manor , the Jumbo - DIY , the drugstore chain Parashop, the restaurant chain Manora and the sporting goods chain Athleticum . The company also holds majority stakes in Devanlay ( clothing e.g. Lacoste ), Gant and Aigle International (outdoor clothing and shoes).
Maus Frères Holding is owned by the Maus and Nordmann families. Sales in 2006 were CHF 5.89 billion.
history
- 1902 - the brothers Ernest Maus and Henri Maus as well as Leon Nordmann open the Leon Nordmann department store in Lucerne.
- 1933 to 1945 - the expansion is temporarily stopped by the branch ban
- 1974 - the first jumbo wholesale market opens in Dietlikon.
- 1980s - the first Manora restaurants are opened.
- 1982 - the first Jumbo Bau und Freizeit opens in Bachenbülach.
- 1985 - the first City Disc store opens.
- 1990s - the group expands abroad.
- 1995 - The first Athleticum branch and the first Jeans & Co. branch are opened.

- 1998 - the first Swiss FLY branch is opened. The French drugstore chain Parashop and the 90% of the company Devanlay are taken over.
- 2000/2001 - the company separates from City Disc , electroPLUS and Jeans & Co.
- 2000 - Carrefour takes over 40% of the shares in Jumbo Grossmarkt , which are converted into Carrefour stores.
- 2006 - Carrefour takes over a further 10% in the wholesale markets and now holds 50%.
- 2007 - Carrefour and Maus Frère Holding sell their stake in Carrefour Switzerland to Coop
- 2008 In February 2008, Maus Frères SA successfully closed the takeover offer for the Swedish fashion company Gant Company AB, which it launched in December 2007 through its subsidiary Procastor SA, and at the end of February 2008 held over 96 percent of the shares.

The 37 Manora restaurants are often located in Manor department stores and in Carrefour branches, some of them in "independent" locations.
Customer card
The group has a customer card under the name MyOne . This customer card can be used for cashless purchases in companies owned by Maus Frères Holding. Companies that no longer belong to the holding company, such as City Disc or Jeans & Co. , as well as a number of third parties (including travel agencies, mountain railways, petrol stations) accept the card as a means of payment .

Maus Frères Holding has a majority stake in two industrial companies.
- The French Devanlay produces clothes for the Lacoste brand. In the future, the company wants to be more active in sales.

Former holdings
At the Distributis AG , the Swiss Carrefour hypermarkets operates, the mouse was Frères Holding with 60% stake; the remaining 40% was held by the Carrefour Group . On August 21, 2007, Carrefour announced its intention to exit the Swiss market and sell the wholesale stores to Coop , with the Maus-Frères group also exiting the joint venture. City Disc and Jeans & Co were also part of the group until 2001 .
