The Carrefour Switzerland AG , a subsidiary of the internationally active French companies Carrefour was up to the withdrawal from the Swiss market in 2007, a company active in the Switzerland company in retail . There the Carrefour wholesale markets were operated as a joint venture with the Swiss Maus-Frères Group, with sales of over 950 million Swiss francs being achieved in 2006 .

The Carrefour Group held a 40% stake in Distributis AG , which has operated the Swiss Carrefour wholesale markets since 2000 . The remaining 60% was held by the Swiss Maus Frères Holding (including Manor, Manora, Athleticum, Jumbo DIY stores). Ten of the eleven Carrefour branches emerged from the “Jumbo Grossmarkets”, which emerged from August 1974 (first Jumbo Grossmarkt in Dietlikon). This did not affect the hardware store chain of the Maus Group, which continues to bear the name “Jumbo”.

In 2007, Carrefour operated twelve large supermarkets in Switzerland . The branches were located in French-speaking Switzerland , in the canton of Valais , in the canton of Bern , in the canton of Zurich and in the canton of Ticino . Carrefour had intended to open additional branches, particularly in Central Switzerland and Eastern Switzerland . However, these plans were no longer implemented. Instead, Carrefour announced on August 21, 2007 that it would exit the Swiss market.

The twelve wholesale markets and two well-developed projects were taken over by Coop for around 470 million Swiss francs. The locations were sold in their entirety, which means that the Maus Group also withdrew from the joint venture.
