The Conrad Electronic SE is a German family in electronics - mail order . It was founded in Berlin in 1923 . The company's headquarters have been in Hirschau in the Upper Palatinate since 1946 . The logistics center is located in Wernberg . From there, deliveries are made to Germany and abroad.

history

The company was founded by Max Conrad in Berlin in 1923; his son Werner Conrad pushed the mail order business. In 1946 the company moved to Hirschau (Upper Palatinate). Werner Conrad's son Klaus Conrad became a partner in 1973 at the age of 37. In southern Germany, 18 more technology department stores have been built over the years. In 1976 220 people were employed. In 1979 model making items were offered for the first time. The company was one of the pioneers in private broadcasting and from 1984 operated the private broadcaster Radio C, which broadcasts from Bolzano in South Tyrol to Bavaria .

On July 1, 1990, Conrad took over Völkner Electronic GmbH and Co. KG from Braunschweig from the previous owner Kaufhof . In 2000 the shipping activities of the Völkner brand were discontinued and customers were sent a Conrad catalog. In 1991 Conrad took over Radio Rim .

In 1995 a logistics center was built in Wernberg-Köblitz in the Upper Palatinate ; The groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the logistics center took place in April 2012. In 1997 Werner Conrad, the son of Klaus Conrad, became management spokesman.

In 2006 the company employed more than 3,000 people worldwide. The Nuremberg-based Re-In Retail International GmbH, which operates the online shops voelkner.de, digitalo.de and smdv.de, has also been part of the Conrad corporate family since 2008 .

On December 4, 2013, Conrad Electronic bought the insolvent online mail order company getgoods.de and closed its Frankfurt / Oder location. The getgoods.de and hoh.de brands were continued; Get-it-quick GmbH was closed at the end of 2015.

Branches

In addition to the mail order business, the company operates 20 branches in Germany , six in Austria ( Vienna-Stadlau , Vienna Meiselmarkt , Vösendorf , Graz , Linz , Salzburg ), two in Switzerland ( Lucerne-Emmenbrücke , Zurich-Dietlikon ) and one in Hungary (Budapest ). The company sends around 7.2 million deliveries (120 million items) to over 150 countries each year and has a maximum shipping capacity of 50,000 parcels per day. In 2012, 3.51 million people in Germany made purchases from Conrad Electronic in the last six months. A branch delivery service has been offered in cooperation with tiramizoo.com since 2013, which enables express delivery of the goods.
