Oberembrach is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland . The hamlets Wagenburg and Mühlberg belong to Oberembrach.

The coat of arms was adopted by the lords of Wagenberg, reversing the colors.
geography
Oberembrach is located in the Zürcher Unterland in a wooded landscape with rolling hills. 58.5% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 33.9% is covered with forest, 3.6% is traffic area and 3.7% is settlement area, 0.1% is water.
politics
In the 2019 National Council elections, the share of the vote in Oberembrach was: SVP 51.27%, SP 10.92%, FDP 9.03%, Greens 8.74%, glp 7.24%, EDU 5.52%, CVP 2.92 %, BDP 2.10% and EVP 1.35%.
The mayor is Verena Koch Hanselmann (independent as of May 2020).
history
The nobles at the Wagenburg were first mentioned in a document in 1263. When Adelheid von Wagenberg married Hartmann von Heidegg , the castle and the manor came into the possession of the Heidegger knights on Lake Baldegg in 1281 . Wagenberg remained in the possession of the Lords of Heidegg until 1451.
