The district of Bülach is a district in the northwest of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland , which essentially comprises the lower Glatttal and the Rafzerfeld . It was created in 1814 from the eastern part of the Bülach district .

Changes in the community
- 1916: Merger of Rieden and Wallisellen → Wallisellen
- 1931: Name change from Unterembrach → Embrach
- 1931: The Baltenswil exclave moves from the community of Nürensdorf → Bassersdorf
- 1958: Name change from Freienstein → Freienstein-Teufen
Civil parishes
The new cantonal constitution of the Zurich state brought the abolition of civil parishes with it. When it came into force on January 1, 2006, the following civil parishes still existed:
- Breite-Hakab (Political Community of Nürensdorf , dissolved on January 1, 2008)
- Oberwil (Political community Nürensdorf , dissolved on August 22, 2009)
