The district of Horgen is a more urban district in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .

It essentially comprises the left bank of Lake Zurich and the Zurich Sihltal . In the northern part of the district, the municipalities have partially grown together with the city of Zurich , while the Sihlwald, the largest natural and contiguous mixed deciduous forest in the Central Plateau, is located in the southwestern part .
