The Dielsdorf district is a district in the northwest of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .
The Dielsdorf district comprises parts of the Furttal south of the Lägern , the Wehntal north of this Jura foothills , and the area up to the northern border on the Rhine .
The district emerged after the end of the mediation constitution in 1814 from the western part of the Bülach district and was initially called Oberamt Regensberg . With the cantonal constitution of 1831, the Oberamt became the Regensberg district .
The district capital was moved from Regensberg to the foot of the Lägern in Dielsdorf in 1871 after long political disputes . Due to the relocation of the main town from the unloved castle on the Buck ( Regensberg Castle ) to the valley, it became the Dielsdorf district .
The only cities in the district are Regensdorf and Regensberg .
