Raat is a village in the political municipality Stadel in the district of Dielsdorf , Canton of Zurich , Switzerland . It lies on the saddle between Stadlerberg (altitude 637 m above sea level ) and the Ämperg (altitude 514 m above sea level ), which is known locally as the Kistenpass and forms the transition from the valley of the High Rhine to the plain of the Neeracherried . The crossing is used by the Weiach - Schüpfheim - Stadel road.
The place name comes from Roda and denotes a clearing of the high medieval country development.
Raat was an independent political community and school community together with Schüpfheim until 1904, but church-wise it has always belonged to Stadel. In the 19th century, the community built its own school house. At the beginning of 1907, Raat-Schüpfheim and Windlach were forcibly merged with the Stadel community.
