Windlach is a village in the political municipality of Stadel in the district of Dielsdorf , Canton of Zurich , Switzerland .

Windlach was an independent political community and school community until 1904, but has always belonged to Stadel ecclesiastically. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was forcibly merged with Raat and Schüpfheim with the Stadel community.

Many Windlacher do not feel like Stadler today . That is probably one of the reasons why Windlach was one of the 20 remaining civil parishes in the canton of Zurich.

There are extensive gravel pits north of the village of Windlach.

On January 1, 2010, the civil parish of Windlach was dissolved and integrated into the political municipality of Stadel.
