Neeracherried
With an area of 105 hectares , the Neeracherried is one of the last large flat moors in Switzerland. It is mowed regularly and grazed in the peripheral areas and thus offers a habitat for countless birds, plants, amphibians and reptiles. Scottish highland cattle have been giving the reed a special character for several years.
The area of the reed was jointly owned by the Anstösser communities. The oldest document in the community archive Neerach dates from 1528 and relates to disputes between Neerach , Riedt and Hori about the common Allmend . These could never be completely enclosed. That is why Neerach and Riedt made repeated efforts to prune or even divide up the common reed area. The municipality of Höri managed to stop such projects several times. The reed, which today belongs to the municipalities of Neerach, Höri and Niederglatt , was finally divided up in the summer of 1800 .
