Rheinsfelden (not to be confused with the much larger, downstream two places Rheinfelden AG and Rheinfelden (Baden) ) is a village in the political municipality of Glattfelden . It belongs to the Bülach district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .
The original core of the Rheinsfelden settlement lies east of the confluence of the Glatt into the Rhine . There is also an old tavern, the ferry . The name is a reminder of the ferry service that existed from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century. In the High Middle Ages, Glattfelden also belonged to the parish of Hohentengen north of the Rhine, which gave the ferry great importance.
Rheinsfelden is also known as Zweidlen Station . The place developed strongly around the Zweidlen train station, which opened in 1876, and from the First World War thanks to the construction of the Eglisau-Glattfelden power plant by the Northeastern Switzerland Power Plants (NOK). The Schlossacher settlement, north of the railway line, was built by the NOK.
A step-free border crossing for pedestrians and bicycles to Herdern in the German municipality of Hohentengen runs over the weir . Rheinsfelden is on the Gottfried Keller - Dichterweg from Glattfelden to Kaiserstuhl .
