Location of the municipality

Nürensdorf (popularly: Nüeri ) is a municipality in the Bülach district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .

Nürensdorf comprises the districts of Birchwil, Oberwil and Breite as well as the hamlets of Breitenloo, Hakab and Kleinhaus. It borders the towns of Bassersdorf , Kloten , Oberembrach , Brütten and Lindau . The school offer includes kindergartens , two primary and upper levels .

The coat of arms is based on that of the Hess family, which held the jurisdiction of Nürensdorf for a long time.

Nürensdorf is located on the western flank of the gentle hill that separates the city of Zurich from Winterthur . The center of Nürensdorf is 502  m above sea level. M. The difference from the lowest to the highest located district is considerable. The total area of ​​the municipality is 1009 hectares. Agriculture accounts for 49%, forests for 32%, for settlements for 14% and for traffic for 5%.

The old village center surrounds the main intersection, which was equipped with a traffic light system. When it was built in the early 1970s, this was the only traffic light system in all the surrounding communities, something Nürensdorf was proud of as a symbol of modernity. In 2016 this traffic light system was dismantled and gave way to a roundabout.

The original Baltenswil exclave was separated from Nürensdorf in 1931 and assigned to the neighboring community of Bassersdorf.

The surrounding districts and hamlets are relatively wide spread: a forest separates the parts of Birchwil and Oberwil from Nürensdorf's core. The width and the small house are over 100 meters higher, also separated by forest.

Culture

The band Hellhammer came from Nürensdorf in 1982 , one of the most influential bands in the field of «Extreme Metal», which has primarily influenced the sub-genres of Death Metal and Black Metal and is considered a pioneer band of Black Metal. The successor group Celtic Frost was also founded in Nürensdorf in 1984.

economy

Originally Nürensdorf was a farming village. There are still 23 farms that are self-supporting. In addition to numerous small businesses in the typical handicraft industries , the village has a centrally located Volg that offers everyday goods. It also includes a butcher's shop. The former “Schlossbraui Nürensdorf” was put back into operation in April 2006, more than 100 years after its closure.

Nürensdorf is also the location of a 380 kV substation for the north-east Swiss power plants . This is also where 220 kV coarse distribution lines and the preliminary discharge , the 380 kV lines Bonaduz-Breite and Breite-Beznau-Laufenburg, end .

Nürensdorf can be reached in the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund with the 660 bus from Winterthur and Bassersdorf , where the nearest train stations are; there are also two other buses that run during peak times, one of which is line 767, which runs from Brütten to Bassersdorf train station. The other bus goes from Effretikon to Zurich Airport . There is also a connection to the S-Bahn and long-distance transport network. The night bus from Winterthur to Zurich and vice versa also goes through Nürensdorf.

The St. Oswald Chapel , which was built in the 12th century, stands across . It was first mentioned in 1370 in the Liber marcarum of the Diocese of Constance. The chapel was completely renovated for the first time in 1650 and received a clockwork built by Christian Heinrich Zeller in 1775 . The bells of the clock come from pre-Reformation times and bear the inscriptions AVE MARIA GRATIA PLENAand IHS NASARENUS REX JUDERUM.

Current population concerns

Recently, the topic of aircraft noise has been the main topic of discussion in Nürensdorf . The village center lies in the extension of the east runway at Zurich Airport. A one-sided channeling of the approaches in the east would consequently bring massively more aircraft noise to the community.

Since Nürensdorf belongs to the district of Bülach in the canton of Zurich, the official publication organ of the municipality is the Zürcher Unterländer . There is also a local newspaper, the Dorf-Blitz , which is shared with the communities of Brütten and Bassersdorf , as well as an internal school newspaper, which the Nürensdorf school community distributes to all households in the community free of charge every quarter.
