The Colico – Chiavenna railway is a railway line in Lombardy . It was built according to the Baccarini law and opened on September 9, 1886.

At the time of its opening, the line was isolated together with the Valtellina Railway and only accessible by boat on Lake Como ; it was connected to the rest of the Italian network in 1894 by the Lecco – Colico railway line .

In 1902 the line (together with the Lecco – Colico and Colico – Sondrio lines ) was electrified with three-phase alternating current ; it was the first high-voltage electrification in the world.
