The Klintehamn – Klintebys (KlinteJVG) railway was a narrow-gauge railway on the Swedish island of Gotland . It had a track width of 891 millimeters.

history

The Klintehamn – Klintebys line was built by the joint stock company Klinte Järnvägs AB , which was founded for this purpose . Traffic on the route began in the summer of 1910. There was also a concession for the line between Klintebys and Snögrinda , but the construction of the railway never got beyond Klintebys. The line was actually designed for general traffic, but since the requirements of the concession were never met, there was no official opening of the line. So only goods traffic was carried out. The railway transported goods to the sugar factory in Klintehamn as well as canned goods . In the opposite direction, potatoes were transported to a potato flour factory.

In addition, the company operated a cable car that transported limestone from Snögrinda to Klintebys. The stones were loaded onto the railway there and driven to Klintehamn harbor.

Klinte Järnvägs AB had no vehicles of its own. The operation was carried out with locomotives and wagons from Klintehamn-Roma Järnvägsaktiebolag , which also operated the Klintehamn – Roma railway . The company only had one employee, Helmuth Lundgren. The transport of limestone ceased at the turn of 1916/17, and the railway line was dismantled in the summer of 1917.
