The Klintehamn-Roma Järnvägsaktiebolag (KLRJ) was a Swedish corporation .

The company was founded in Klintehamn on March 4, 1897 with the aim of planning and building the Klintehamn – Roma railway line .

The main reason for the construction was the new sugar factory in Roma , to which the beets could be transported more easily by train. According to calculations by the engineer E. Nelson, the track should be built for 430,000 crowns . The concession was granted on December 31, 1897, at the same time a state loan of 214,000 crowns was granted for the construction.

The concession described a line with a track width of 891 mm and a length of 23 kilometers, and a one-kilometer branch line to the port in Klintehamn was also planned. The line, built under the direction of August Bååth, was completed on November 8, 1897 and was used unofficially for freight traffic from that point on . On September 21, 1998, the line was opened for general freight and passenger traffic. Ultimately, the construction of the railway line cost 329,346 crowns.

On January 1, 1927, the Sydvästra Gotlands Järnvägsaktiebolag (SGJ) with the Klintehamn – Hablingbo railway line was taken over by the KlRJ. Furthermore, the Slite – Roma Järnvägsaktiebolag , which operated the Slite – Roma railway, agreed with the Klintehamn-Roma Järnvägsaktiebolag from January 1, 1927 under the name Trafikförvaltningen Slite – Klintehamn, a joint operating strategy. This agreement lasted until 1940 and was then dissolved.

nationalization

On July 1, 1947, Klintehamn-Roma Järnvägsaktiebolag was converted into a state company under the same name on the basis of the general nationalization of the railways in Sweden . The name was retained until July 1, 1948. Then the railway company was integrated into the Swedish State Railways (SJ).
