St. Laurentius (Düsseldorf)
St. Laurentius was a Catholic church in the Düsseldorf district of Holthausen .
description
St. Laurentius was built between 1975 and 1977 based on designs by the architect Hans Schilling . The church had a polygonal plan and is made of red brick. The sacred building was equipped with a flat roof and had a church tower on a square floor plan. St. Laurentius was a branch church of St. Joseph .
The church was mainly used as a school church. Since 2005 the parish of St. Joseph had made several applications to close the branch church. In recent years the church has only been open in the summer months. The wish to give up the church was finally granted in 2014. The chapel, which was integrated into the church, is to be preserved and accessible to the community.
