II. GDR League 1958

The II. GDR League 1958 was the fourth season of the II. GDR League, founded in 1955 . It was the third highest division in the German Football Association of the GDR (DFV) after the GDR Oberliga and the first GDR League .

Game operation

The II. GDR League 1958 was carried out in the same way as the three championships from 1955 to 1957 based on the Russian model, in which football matches were aligned with the calendar year. It was also the first season with five seasons from their championships as well as promotion round Dynamo Dresden , unit Greifswald and Motor Steinach rose in the GDR league .

season 1

Season 1 (district Rostock, Schwerin, Neubrandenburg) was played on 26 match days with a return game. Relay winner and promoted to the GDR league became unit Greifswald . Forward Rostock , Lok Waren and Einheit Gadebusch relegated to the district league area. In the following season, the SG Dynamo Schwerin , Motor Rostock and Empor Neustrelitz moved into the 2nd GDR League.

Season 2 (Bez. Berlin, Potsdam, Frankfurt, Cottbus) was played on 26 match days with a return leg. The season winner was Motor Süd Brandenburg . Lok Kirchmöser , Lok Frankfurt and BSG Stahl Brandenburg relegated to the district league area. In the following season the SG Grünau , Motor Rathenow , Turbine Finkenheerd and from the GDR league Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt moved into the 2nd GDR league.

Season 3 (district Halle, Magdeburg, Leipzig) was played on 26 match days with a return leg. The season winner was Motor Dessau . Stahl Helbra , Lok Haldensleben and Lok Ost Leipzig were relegated to the district league area. In the following season, SG Zwenkau , Stahl Eisleben , Motor Schönebeck and from the GDR League Science Halle / SC Chemie Halle II moved up into the II. GDR League.

Season 4

Season 4 (District Dresden, Leipzig, Karl-Marx-Stadt, Cottbus) was played on 26 match days with a return game. Dynamo Dresden was the relay winner and promoted to the GDR league . Unity Elsterberg , progress Hartha and Stahl Freital relegated to the district league area. In the following season, activists Welzow , Motor Görlitz and Wismut Rodewisch moved into the 2nd GDR League. Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt II had already taken over the team of local rivals Motor West Karl-Marx-Stadt at the beginning of the season and had to be relegated as the first team was relegated from the GDR league.

Motor Gotha and unit Rudolstadt relegated to the district league area. In the following season Motor Breitungen , Dynamo Erfurt and progress Weida moved up into the 2nd GDR league.
