In the 1930s, a “business team” called Adlero Neustadt played in the Lübeck-Mecklenburg district class (then 2nd division). The association was founded in 1927 by Otto Adler, general director of the Adler & Oppenheimer leather factory . The team took part twice in the promotion games to the Gauliga Nordmark . The club name was changed to SV Neustadt-Glewe in 1936 .
Progress Neustadt-Glewe was founded in 1945 under the name SG Neustadt-Glewe . The sports group was already active shortly after it was founded, from 1947 to 1950, in the championship of the Mecklenburg West State League. In 1949 the name was changed to BSG Lederwerk Neustadt-Glewe , and from 1951 the name was changed again to BSG Progress Neustadt-Glewe .
With the abolition of the federal states and the simultaneous establishment of the Schwerin district , the company sports association became a founding member of the third-class Schwerin district league created in 1952 . In 1954 the Neustädter drove behind Dynamo Schwerin the runner-up, in the following season the BSG won the Schwerin district championship for the first time before Chemie Wittenberge .
Progress Neustadt-Glewe subsequently rose to the third-class II. GDR League , newly founded in 1955 , in which it operated with mostly secured midfield positions until 1959. In 1960, behind Tiefbau Berlin and Motor Neptun Rostock, he was relegated to the now fourth-class district league. In the district league, the BSG played a total of 28 seasons until 1988, but it failed only twice behind unit Güstrow and forward Perleberg just short of the possible promotion to the GDR league .
In 1990 the BSG was renamed to SV progress Neustadt-Glewe again. In terms of sport, the club no longer appeared in a higher class after the reunification. Current league is the state class V Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
