Soccer

"Vorwärts Cottbus" was formed in August 1955 from the first team of the "SC Vorwärts Leipzig" , in which most of the Leipzig players were delegated to Cottbus in Brandenburg. The newly founded sports club was initially called "SC Vorwärts der Luftstwehr Cottbus". The Niederlausitz army footballers took over the starting place of the Leipzig for the newly created II. GDR League . In what was then the third highest division in the GDR, Cottbus played a total of five seasons before promotion to the GDR league followed in 1959 . The army team was able to establish itself in the GDR league for many years. In the 1962/63 season, the promotion to the highest GDR league GDR league was just missed behind Lok Stendal with a second place. Forward Cottbus played at least one season in the stadium of the unit in Forst (Lausitz) at the end of the 1960s . The second team from Vorwärts Cottbus played their home games in the district league Cottbus in the seasons 1965/66 and 1966/67 also in the Forster Stadium

After 14 years in the second division, he was relegated to the district league in 1974 together with Motor Eberswalde and Unity Pankow . The army sports association Vorwärts then decided to relocate the entire community again, this time to Kamenz in Saxony . The first soccer team of what is now ASG Vorwärts Kamenz has been integrated into the Dresden district league. Vorwärts Kamenz was finally dissolved in 1985.
