SC Riesa-Röderau was founded in 1948 under the name BSG Gummiwerk Riesa . Pneumant acted as the sponsoring company . In 1951 the company was renamed to Chemie Riesa . On a sporting level, Chemie Riesa was one of the founding members of the Dresden District League, which was introduced in 1952 . In 1956, before Motor Görlitz , the East Saxons achieved their first promotion to the third-class 2nd GDR League . The league held chemistry until 1958 with lower midfield positions, but in 1959 had to return to the district league.
In the following season Riesa was able to achieve an immediate rise again. In the last season of the GDR League II, which was dissolved in 1963, chemistry reached fifth place, while local rivals BSG Stahl Riesa won promotion to the GDR league . Chemistry Riesa's most successful period in sport began in the mid-sixties. In 1964 and 1968, the sports community was promoted to the GDR league, from which the Riesa team, together with Motor Rudisleben and Chemie Zeitz, had to relegate after just one season. In the following years chemistry did not return to the higher class football and played without exception on the regional level of the Dresden district .
After the reunification, the club initially played as SV Pneumant Riesa , from 1991 under the name SV Grün-Weiß Riesa-Röderau . In 1993, Grün-Weiß Röderau merged with the soccer department of SC Riesa to form SC Riesa-Röderau . The SC Riesa-Röderau, which continues to play under-class, merged after relegation to the district league in 1998 with the Riesa sports club Blau-Weiß to form FC Stahl Riesa 98 , where the Riesa-Röderau team was integrated as a second representative. After FC Stahl went bankrupt in 2003, parts of the team rejoined the parent club SC Riesa .
