The Meissner SV 08 is a German sports club based in Meissen in Saxony . The home of the multi-discipline club is the stadium on Heiligen Grund in the Niederfähre district .
Club (soccer)
Meißner SV was founded on October 8, 1908 as FC Meißen 08 . As early as 1909, FC Meißen merged with the Germania Meißen athletes' club to form Meißner SV 08 . In terms of sport, the Saxons could not qualify for the Gauliga until 1945, which was aimed at, among other things, by signing the German national player Willy Ascherl . In 1933 the Nazis forced a merger with GutsMuts Meißen to form the Meißner Ballspielverein .
After the Second World War, the association was dissolved and re-established as ATSG Meißen . In the following years the club faced further renaming.
- 1946: ZSG of VEB Meißen
- 1949: BSG Ceramics Meißen (July 1, 1949)
- 1950: BSG Chemie Meißen (August 1, 1950)
The ZSG Meissen took part in the Saxon qualifying games for the soccer east zone championship in 1948 , but failed at Horch Zwickau . The promotion to the newly created GDR league was missed in 1949 after a 5-0 defeat against BSG Erich Zeigner Leipzig . With the entry of the local panel factory as a carrier company , the East Saxons played from 1955 as BSG Aufbau Meißen . Development In 1957, Meissen, together with Dynamo Dresden and Stahl Freital, made it into the second GDR league . The then third highest East German league belonged to Meissen until 1960 a total of three seasons. In 1962 Meißen won again the championship of the Dresden District League , but could not prevail in the promotion games against Lokomotive Zittau . Until the end of the 1980s, TSG Meißen , renamed again in 1964, operated on the regional level of the Dresden district .
After the 1988/89 season, Dynamo Dresden's second team continued to play under the name TSG Meissen in the NOFV league . The previous first TSG team, which in 1988 was promoted from the district class to the league, temporarily appeared as TSG Meißen II. The club, again renamed FC Meissen , was integrated into the Oberliga Nordost after the dissolution of the second highest division of the GDR . The Saxons played a total of six seasons in the Oberliga until 1997. After a merger with SV Blau-Weiß Meißen , the club has been playing under the name Meißner SV 08 again since 1995 . Afterwards, the MSV 08 quickly disappeared from higher-class football. After two seasons in the Landesliga Sachsen , MSV rose in 1999 to the Dresden District League.
In the 2009/10 season, the Meißner Sportverein 08 had to relegate with new coach Horst Rau . They landed 14th out of 16 teams. From 2010 they played in the district class Dresden season 4. Meissen immediately managed to rise again and played in 2013/14 in the district league center. The club has been playing in the Saxon state class middle (7th division) since 2014.
