II. GDR League 1955
The 1955 season was the opening season of the newly founded third-class II. GDR League . It was a transitional round, as the championship from 1956 was aligned with the calendar year based on the Soviet model and therefore the time between the end of the 1954/55 season in summer 1955 and the beginning of the 1956 season in spring should be bridged. Only 13 match days were played in which neither promoted nor relegated were determined.
Game operation
After the 1954/1955 season , the three squadrons of the GDR League were merged to form the new, 14-team, single-track I. GDR League. The teams from the first two to five positions were qualified, the second to fourth positions from the second group and the first to fifth positions from the third group. The winners of the first and second groups were promoted to the top division. The remaining teams came into the two regional seasons of the II. GDR League. The 15 district leagues , which were previously third-class , moved into the fourth tier .
North season
The northern relay was held in a simple transition round without promoted or relegated. The season winner was the SG Dynamo Eisleben .
