The railway line Kumanovo-Gjueschewo is under construction 121 km long railway line in standard gauge between northern Macedonia and Bulgaria as part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor VIII .
history
The western part of the line, 31 km between Kumanovo on the main line Tabanovci – Gevgelija and Beljakovci , was opened in 1956. Traffic there was stopped in 1994.
According to plans from 2012, the line is to be Gjueschewo in Bulgaria by 2022 .

1st construction phase
The first construction phase consisted of the rehabilitation of the disused existing line between Kumanovo and Beljakovci. It was completed in 2019. Nevertheless, the route is not yet listed in the report on the infrastructure of the North Macedonian Railway from 2020.
2nd construction phase
The second construction phase of the route runs over 34 km from Beljakovci to Kriva Palanka . On December 20, 2014, the Macedonian Transport Minister announced in a press conference that construction work should start in 2015.
3rd construction phase
The third section extends from Kriva Palanka to the Bulgarian border at Deve Bair . In this third construction phase, 15 tunnels have to be built. Construction work is scheduled to begin in 2020. The track on the Bulgarian side, which is only a few kilometers long, up to Gjueschewo station on the Radomir – Gjueschewo railway line is being built by Bulgaria.
