The Sereď – Trnava railway is a single-track, electrified connecting railway in western Slovakia between the cities of Sereď and Trnava .
history
The forerunner of today's railway line was the so-called Tyrnau horse-drawn railway , which was opened in 1846 in the Tyrnau – Szered section. This horse-drawn railway was bought by the Waagtalbahn in the 1870s and the route was rebuilt. On September 1, 1876, the railway line was opened with steam operation.
In 1981 the railway line was electrified.
