Bairu Tafla

Bairu Tafla (born December 15, 1938 in Keren ) is an Eritrean Africanist .

Life

He studied at the University of Addis Ababa until 1965 and obtained his Master of Arts from Howard University in 1968 , his doctorate in philosophy in Hamburg in 1979 and his habilitation in 1989 at the University of Hamburg (1990–1997 private lecturer in Ethiopian Studies / 1997–2003 professor (§ 17 HmbHG) for Ethiopian Studies).
