Baiba Caune

Baiba Caune-Morzika (born August 12, 1945 in Stāmeriena , Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic ; † February 7, 2014 ) was a Soviet cyclist who was active in the 1960s and 1970s.

Caune became famous for participating in four UCI road world championships . She was involved as a state amateur in the Soviet sports system. The Soviet Union has always been involved with strong teams since the first Women's World Cup in road driving in 1958 . Caune was part of the Soviet squad between 1968 and 1974. Already at her first World Cup appearance in 1968 in Imola , Italy , she reached second place. She was able to repeat this success in 1974 in Montreal , Canada . At the world championships in 1969, 1970 and 1972 she finished 6th, 19th and 14th.
