Baker Electric (1900)
The Baker Electric (1900) was an electric car produced by the Baker Motor Vehicle Company , which was first shown to the public at the 1900 Automobile Show in Madison Square Garden , New York . The Baker Electric was an open vehicle and could accommodate two people. It had a drive - for which Baker held a patent - with an output of 0.75 hp , the range of the electric car was around 32 km. The first "Baker Electric" was acquired by Thomas Edison , who used it to carry out tests with his new nickel batteries. In 1906 Baker presented the successor model Imperial .
