Baket II.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baket (II.) Was a local prince in Egypt during the 11th Dynasty . His main title was Great Head of the Saber Antelope Gau . He was thus Gaufürst in this province. Baket is best known from his grave in Beni Hasan (No. 33). It is a rock grave with a painted cult chapel carved into the rock. Today the paintings are very dirty and have not yet been cleaned, which is why the tomb's decoration program is poorly known. Baket is shown hunting on one wall. On another wall there is a false door that also provides information on Baket's parents. Baket II's father was Baket I , who was also the predecessor in office, his mother's name was Thotqai. The chronological classification of Baket I is controversial in research. It was initially placed in the First Intermediate Period . Recent research favors dating to the 11th dynasty (around 2020 BC).
