Balázs Hoksary (born November 22, 1902 in Arad , Austria-Hungary , † unknown) was a Romanian football player and coach . He played 58 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , and won nine championship titles.

Career as a player

Hoksary began playing football at Chinezul Timișoara and joined the first team there in 1921. With Chinezul he was able to win the Romanian championship six times in a row between 1922 and 1927 - a record that was only set by Steaua Bucharest in 1998 and is still unsurpassed today. After the last championship title, the club ran into financial difficulties and could no longer build on previous successes.

In 1930 Hoksary moved - like many of his previous teammates at Chinezul - to local rivals Ripensia Timișoara . At first he could only play friendly matches with Ripensia, as the club, as a professional football club, was not allowed to participate in the Romanian championship. This changed with the establishment of the professional league Divizia A in 1932. Ripensia dominated the league in the first years and Hoksary was able to add three more championship titles and two cup wins to his collection by 1936.

After a year at Electrica Timișoara , Hoksary ended his career in 1937.

National team

Balázs Hoksary played five games for the Romanian national football team . He made his debut on May 7, 1926 against Turkey , his last mission was on May 6, 1928 against Yugoslavia .

Career as a coach

After the Second World War , Hoksary worked as a trainer and looked after CFR Timișoara in Divizia A between 1946 and 1952 . His most successful year of 1948, when he won the runner-up and the cup final . Both times he had to let ITA Arad go first.
