The Lake Balanan is a lake in the south of the island of Negros in the Philippines. The lake is located not far from the southern coast of the Negros Oriental province , about 5 km north of the municipality of Siaton . Its outflow flows into the Siaton River , which flows into the Mindanao Sea at Siaton . Seen from a bird's eye view, the lake has the shape of an eight, at its narrowest point it is only 90 meters wide. There are extensive rainforests on its banks . The topography of the surrounding area is dominated by the Lamaraw and Anupugan mountain ranges, which rise up to 1,000 meters above sea level. In January 1987 a hunting and game reserve was established around the lake.
