Ballarpur is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .

The city is the second largest in the Chandrapur district . Ballarpur has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 32 wards . It had 89,452 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 45,877 were men and 43,575 were women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 64%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 87.17%, well above the national average.

The city has its own train station. It is the last station in the Central Railway Zone and South Central Railway Zone on Indian Railways .
