Ballymalis Castle ( Irish Caisleán Bhéal Átha Málais ) is the ruin of a tower house 4.3 km northwest of the village of Beaufort in County Kerry, Ireland . The ruin is on the north bank of the Laune near the mouth of the Gaddagh . The Ring of Kerry runs north of it . The castle ruins are considered a national monument .
history
This castle was built by the Ó Muircheartaighs (O'Moriartys) at the beginning of the 16th century . Later it fell to the Ó Fearghuis (Ferrises), who had it renovated at the end of the 16th century. In 1677 the manor was confiscated by the Crown and given to Francis Brewster , who passed it on to the Eager (Eagar) family.

Ballymalis Castle is a tower house whose ruins have been partially restored. It has a rectangular floor plan, four full storeys and an attic, as well as guard towers on the southwest and southeast corners. There are also sinks, a machine , chimneys, open chimneys, coupled windows and windows with skylights. Part of the old battlement has also been preserved.
