The Baltimore City Hall is the town hall of Baltimore in Maryland . The building, which was built from 1867 to 1875 in the style of the Second Empire and is located in downtown Baltimore, houses both the mayor and the city council.
The central section of the four-storey building ends at the front facade with a simple gable triangle , behind it is surmounted by a dome and has two wings . The outer walls are clad with marble. The basement is increased and as ashlar built. The architect of the Baltimore City Hall was the German-American George A. Frederick. The wrought iron work on the staircase and dome was made by Wendel Bollman . Baltimore City Hall has been on the National Register of Historic Places since May 8, 1973 .
