The Bambarakanda waterfall is with a height of 240 meters (according to other sources 263 meters) the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and one of the beauties of the country. The waterfall is located west of Kalupahana and is accessible from the Badulla - Colombo road. It marks the edge of the Ceylonese highlands. However, it is only impressive during the rainy season (October to March).
