The Bamberg Beer War is an episode that took place in Bamberg in 1907 .

The Bamberg breweries wanted to increase the price for 0.5 liters of beer (" Seidla ") by 1 pfennig on October 1st (from 10 to 11 pfennigs ).

Since the Bamberg population was shocked by the drastic measures (the last beer price increase was in 1797), the innkeepers Georg Weierich and Anton Mohr went on a beer strike under the leadership of Karl Panzers, who was an accountant at the Kaliko company in Bamberg: Instead of that To sell more expensive Bamberg beer, they now offered the cheaper beer from Forchheim , which, in contrast to Bamberg beer, sold very well at this time.

After a week's strike , the Bamberg breweries gave in on October 7th and withdrew the price increase. The half liter now cost 10 pfennigs again.
