A banana boat , often simply called a "banana", is a non-motorized, mostly yellow tugboat in the shape and color of an oversized, floating banana . With life jackets held passengers seated one behind the other on a central tube, which is sometimes thought of in two small balance. Due to its good stability, the banana is much easier and safer to use than water skis and surfboards , making it a popular recreational opportunity for children, which can be found in holiday resorts - mostly for a fee.

Many large motor yachts always have a banana boat on board as a toy, but the rubber tube can be pulled by all motorized boats. Most models have space for three to ten people, but there are also double bananas where the passengers sit next to each other on two tubes.

The recreational fun results from the fact that at a surprising time the banana boat is either uncoupled or is guided into a destabilizing cornering, so that the passengers plunge into the water and have to climb onto the boat for a new approach.
