Lutz Bandekow

Lutz Bandekow (born October 31, 1948 in Herzberg am Harz ) is a retired German general practitioner. D. From 2001 to 2007, he was the first commander of the Medical Command III of the Bundeswehr Medical Service .

Life

Bandekow began his military career after graduating from high school in Hanover in 1968 with basic training and a junior officer course in the air force officer candidate battalion in Fürstenfeldbruck . In 1971 he became an S2 officer with Fighter Bomber Wing 33 in Cochem with the rank of lieutenant . From 1971 to 1978 Bandekow studied medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant doctor in the rank of staff doctor at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Munich. In 1979 he was promoted to senior staff doctor and head of the air force medical squadron, fighter-bomber squadron 74 "Mölders" and on-site doctor in Neuburg an der Donau . In 1980, after defending his dissertation, Mechanisms of Rehabilitation in Anus Praeter Patients at the University of Heidelberg, he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . From 1982 he was teaching group commander and deputy commander at the Air Force Medical School in Würzburg . In 1983 he was promoted to senior field doctor and head of the "Management, Organization, Training" department at the Air Force General Doctor in Lohmar . He then moved to the Federal Ministry of Defense in 1987 as a consultant . From 1991 to 1994 he was division doctor of the 5th Air Force Division in Strausberg and 1994/1995 division doctor of the 3rd Air Force Division in Berlin. Here he worked closely with the head of press and public relations for the division, Lieutenant Colonel Joachim Weiß. From 1991 he held the rank of senior physician . From 1995 to 2001 he was chief physician at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Berlin. From September 25, 2001 until 2007 he was in command of the Medical Command III in Weißenfels and was appointed general doctor in 2003 .
