Michael Temple

Michael Temple (* 18th March 1954 in Mannheim ) is a German doctor and former medical officer ( generaloberstabsarzt ret. ). He was the 15th inspector of the Bundeswehr medical service from July 2015 to September 2018 .

Military career

Michael Tempel joined the Bundeswehr in 1973 with the 251 paratrooper battalion in Calw and trained as a paratrooper officer . From 1977 to 1983 he completed a medical officer candidate (SanOA) studying human medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg . After working as an assistant doctor in the Bundeswehr Hospital Wildbad , he took on a position as a troop doctor in the 252 paratrooper battalion in Nagold in 1985 . From 1986 to 1988, Tempel took part in the 29th General Staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . From 1989 to 1993 he was the commander of the Mountain Medical Battalion 8 in Kempten and in 1994 switched to the Federal Ministry of Defense , where he became Head of InSan II in 2001. In 2006 he was appointed Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Medical Command II in Diez , in 2007 Commander Medical Command III in Weißenfels , then from the reclassification in January 2013 Commander Command Medical Service Support . From June 2014 to July 2015 he was the commander of health facilities and deputy inspector of the medical service. In July 2015 he was appointed inspector of the medical service and promoted to chief medical officer. On September 25, 2018, he handed over this post to General Staff Doctor Ulrich Baumgärtner , and retired after almost 45 years of service.
