Kurt Bartels (born February 21, 1937 - † June 26, 2013 ) was a German handball player and handball coach .

Career

Kurt Bartels already played for the THW Kiel in his youth , playing field handball as a defender and in the hall as a circle runner . From 1956 to 1966 he was part of the men's zebra team , with which he became German champions in 1957 , 1962 and 1963 .

FC Nürnberg in front of 3500 spectators in the Kiel Ostseehalle . 1972 Bartels assistant coach of Hein Dahlinger with THW Kiel. When Dahlinger resigned in November 1972 after the 15:17 home defeat against Hamburger SV , Bartels took over the training of the THW together with league chairman Rolf Krabbenhöft and the Kiel player Bernd Struck . But the three could not prevent relegation to the Regionalliga at the end of the 1972/73 season . The new Kiel coach was Adolf Gabriel , who had already taken over the coaching position at KSV Holstein from Bartels a year earlier.

Bartels later coached TSV Altenholz , with whom he was promoted to the handball Bundesliga in 1975 as a champion of the Regionalliga Nord .
