Bernd Struck (born July 10, 1940 in Kiel ) is a German physicist and former handball player .

Career

Bernd Struck started playing handball at Schwarz-Weiß Elmschenhagen in 1949. In 1956 he moved to THW Kiel , where he and his brother Wolfgang won the German championship in 1962 and 1963 . From 1967 he played with the Zebras in the handball Bundesliga , which had been newly created the year before , in which he had scored 166 goals in 82 games by the end of his career in 1973, 38 of them by seven meters . After the Kiel coach Hein Dahlinger resigned in November 1972, Struck managed the team's training together with the previous assistant coach Kurt Bartels and league chairman Rolf Krabbenhöft until the end of the 1972/73 season . But the three could not prevent relegation to the regional league .

Struck played four games for the German national team , with which he took part in the 1964 World Cup in Czechoslovakia , where the team finished fourth.

In addition to handball, Struck studied physics . He received his doctorate in 1971 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel with the dissertation "Fundamental investigations into edge slope changes on recording systems with cathode ray tubes and optics".

In 1982 he wrote a book about Hein Dahlinger, the long-time player and trainer at THW Kiel.
