Hans-Georg Stemann

Hans-Georg Stemann (born September 19, 1916 in Bad Oeynhausen ; † November 4, 2011 in Bad Honnef ) was a German doctor and retired medical officer . D. the Bundeswehr . Most recently, he was inspector of the medical and health services with the rank of senior admiralty .

Life

Stemann was born as the son of Arnold Stemann and Marta Stemann, geb. Sauerwald, later Schulte-Ostrop. He started school in 1922 and attended a humanistic high school from 1926 to 1935 . From April 1935 to September 1935 he did voluntary labor service in Sudmühle ( Münster-Dyckburg ). This was followed by studying human medicine at the Universities of Münster , Breslau , Kiel and Berlin with a subsequent license to practice medicine in April 1940.

Second World War

He then started his service with the Navy and completed basic training at the 1st Naval Sergeant Training Department in Glücksburg by June . This was followed by on-board training as a medical ensign at sea on the liner Silesia until August .

From September he was an assistant doctor in the surgical department of the Hardinghen naval hospital in France and has meanwhile completed the train driver course in Glücksburg . In November 1940 he was promoted to senior ensign at sea , in January 1941 to naval assistant doctor (MAssA). It was used from April 1941 to May 1942 in the interior department of the Bergen op Zoom naval hospital in Holland, where he was promoted to senior naval assistant doctor (MOAssA) in January 1942 . From May to October 1942 he was employed in the surgical department of the Wilhelmshaven naval hospital. From October 1942 he was ship's doctor on the destroyer Z 25 , where he was promoted to naval staff doctor (MStA) in January 1943 . In November 1944 he became department doctor of the 10th Marine Replacement Department (MEA) in Zeven (later Altenwalde ), in April 1945 department doctor of the 2nd Marine Infantry Division and was taken prisoner by the British on May 10, 1945 .

Post-war years

He was released from captivity in September 1947, worked as an assistant doctor at the medical examination center in Bad Oeynhausen from November , from October 1948 as a doctor for the German Service Organization (GSO) in Celle , from January 1949 in Minden and there from June 1949 at Medical Center Minden of the GSO. In December 1954 he became the chief physician of the German Service Organization in the HQ Lübbecke District and received his doctorate on December 19, 1955 .

Activities in the Bundeswehr

On March 2, 1956, he was accepted into the German Navy of the newly established Bundeswehr as a senior staff doctor, where he was responsible for Defense Division II in the acceptance organization of the Ministry of Defense (BMVg) until January 1957 and was a professional soldier in July 1956 .

From January to March 1957 he was on-site doctor at the Wilhelmshaven site command, and at that time was already assigned to the BMVg as an assistant officer. In April 1957, he was transferred to the post of assistant in the Inspection of Sanitary and Health Services (InSan) of the BMVg. In December 1957, Stemann was promoted to flotilla doctor. From February to April 1958 he was chief medical officer (LSO) of the minesweeper command and at the same time commanded as a medical officer in the naval office ; in May the final transfer took place there as assistant speaker. In August 1960 he returned to InSan as head of department.

As commander of teaching group A at the Academy of Medical and Health Services of the Bundeswehr from April 1964 to August 1966, he was promoted to fleet doctor in April 1965 . From August to March 1966 he was a command doctor on the staff of the Naval Office. He was promoted to admiralty doctor in May 1968 in his subsequent assignment as a stage manager of the marines medical service in the marines medical service inspection of the naval office until March 1970. As admiral staff doctor he was deputy to the inspector of the medical and health services of the Bundeswehr from April 1970, and from October 1971 head of the medical department of the Bundeswehr , before he was the highest medical officer of the Bundeswehr from October 1972 in his last military assignment as inspector of the medical and health services of the Bundeswehr.

Stemann was with Liselotte Stemann, geb. Schulte-Ostrop, married.
