The Oberfähnrich zur See is one of the ranks of the Bundeswehr for naval uniform wearers . The legal basis is the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and uniforms of soldiers and the Soldiers Act .

Rank badge

The senior ensign at sea wears the officers' uniform. Therefore, the rank badges are designed in the manner of the rank badges for officers and are not similar to those for chief boatmen . The rank badges of the senior middlemen at sea show a narrow sleeve stripe on both lower sleeves .

Headgear

Oberfähnrich zur See wear the uniform of the officers . Therefore, the visor of the chief middleman at sea is the same as that for captains and lieutenants . The screen has a 0.7 cm wide, stumpfgezackten, at the screen edge extending from gold-colored metal web hand stitched strips on. Since the shape and color of the embroidery on the visor can evoke associations with the edge of a well-known butter biscuit , this embroidery is also jokingly referred to as the "biscuit edge".

Salutation

In military parlance , a soldier with the rank of Oberfähnrich zur See is briefly addressed and greeted with "Herr Oberfähnrich" .

Others

The rank designation of ranked officer candidates in air force and army uniform is Oberfähnrich . With regard to authority, appointment , pay , the subordinate and superordinate ranks, similarly also with regard to the positions, senior midshipmen at sea and senior midshipman are on an equal footing. Both ranks were newly created with the sixth order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of soldiers from May 5, 1966.
