Inspector of the medical service
The inspector of the medical service (InspSan) is the highest responsible person in the organizational area of the central medical service of the Bundeswehr . It is in the NATO rank code OF-8.

As part of the nationwide concept, he is a member of the Military Leadership Council , chaired by the Inspector General . He is also the German representative on the International Committee of Military Medicine .
He is responsible for his personal and material readiness for action. The Bundeswehr Medical Service Command reports to the inspector . He is also responsible for the medical services of the other organizational areas of the Bundeswehr and, among other things, updates the "Specialist service instructions of the inspector of the medical service" (FA InspSan). In his role, he will, among other things authorized by him stage manager advised of the departments, the stage manager Dentistry of Bundeswehr (InspizZahnMedBw), the stage manager Military Pharmacy of the Bundeswehr (InspizWehrpharmBw) and the stage manager Veterinary Medicine of the Bundeswehr (InspizVetBw).
Until the restructuring of the medical service, the inspector was known as the inspector of the medical and health services, which was primarily due to the fact that there was no uniform medical service, but that each branch of the armed forces was responsible for the medical service.
