Heinrich Oberdiek

Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Oberdiek (born August 7, 1899 in Berlin ; † March 13, 1986 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German doctor and medical officer . In the army he was most recently head of Wehrmedizinalamtes and among others in November and December 1957 with the perception of the company's inspector of the medical and health commissioned.

Life

Oberdiek was the son of the steward Heinrich Oberdiek and his wife Wilhelmine, née Gosemann. He started school in 1905 and attended secondary school from 1908 to 1917 .

First World War

After graduation he served during the First World War as a volunteer from March to December 1917 at the replacement field artillery regiment Zossen the Prussian army , then to March 1918, the Field Artillery Shooting School in Jüterbog and until the war ended in infantry artillery battalion. 12th

Interwar years

From 1919 to 1924 he studied human medicine at the universities of Berlin, Freiburg im Breisgau and Tübingen until the state examination . In May 1925 he became a junior doctor and troop doctor in the medical division of the 6th (Prussian) medical department in Paderborn with the Reichswehr . Here he also worked as a department doctor at the site hospital and as a family doctor for the 18th Infantry Regiment and the 15th (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment in the Paderborn site hospital until December 1928 . This was followed by the employment as a resident physician of the medical team and regimental physician with the 11th (Prussian) Reiter-Regiment Neustadt in Upper Silesia until April 1930. From May 1930 Oberdieck was an adjutant with the division physician in the staff of the 2nd Cavalry Division in Breslau and thereafter until December 1932 until December 1934 with Army Group Doctor 1 on the staff of Army Group Command 1 in Berlin. From January 1935 to December 1937 he was a class officer at the Pépinière in Berlin, which was reopened as a military medical academy . Until April 1939 he was on-site doctor as well as chief physician of the on-site hospital and department doctor of the internal department of the medical staff and on-site hospital in Bad Kreuznach . From May he was group leader of the personnel department for medical officers in the medical inspection at the Army High Command .

Second World War

In April 1940 Oberdiek was promoted to chief medical officer. This was followed by the war deployment as a division doctor in the 16th Panzer Grenadier Division from December 1940. In February 1943 he was transferred back to the Army Group Command, where he worked as a group leader at the Army Group Doctor until the end of the war.

Post-war years

In captivity in the US detention center in the Czech Eger he was a speaker at the medical camp leader. After he was released from captivity on June 17, 1945, he practiced as a general practitioner in Marktschorgast from July 1945 .

Activities in the Bundeswehr

In March 1956 he joined the newly founded Bundeswehr, where he was taken on in the rank of senior physician and initially worked as head of department in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) from July . In January 1957 he was taken over as a professional soldier . Due to a business trip by the inspector General Doctor Dr. Joedicke went to the United States from November 1 to 17, 1957, for this period Oberdiek was entrusted with the performance of his official business.
